you coudl probably pick up a 10 gallon for chaep, like 10 dollars at wal mart and that will ease your worries of having plastic wraped cons when you get home from work

you could always put like a ceramic plate down and put the heater on that, my swordtails are starting to grow to big for my current tank and im sitll living off allowence, so I may have to do something like you are doing, but just for a few months

he is going in a tank with a 12" shovel nose catfish 2marrow so i can sell him at work.... Only too a good home, but the LFS i work at only lets me sell fish if they get all the profits

Rescue Too

If you were a PA local i would get them both i just rescued the a 5-6 inch Con from a 10 gallon with a female who already died..Im looking to put a pair in a 75 and grow up a few fry..

So you "rescued" a fish from inadequate homing but you don't have the tank space for it. So what happens to it if you can't find a taker?
