Is it possible for the substrate to lose some of its mineral and micronutrient content over time? Mine is only two years old. I am trying to figure out why I am seeing less growth, as well as less color in the Rotala Macandra, and pale new growth in both Wisteria and Java Fern. Thanks

Is it time to change out your bulbs?

My first thought was the bulbs as well, but I changed focus once I realized those plants feed from the water column, so the substrate would not be the culprit. So, maybe you need to feed the water column. I don't think you would have asked the question if you knew your lights were expired. If you want a warm and fuzzy, try root ferts, before you tear down tanks.
