30 gallon suggestions?

(New to planted tanks)
Im going to get a 30 gallon in a couple of months for my birthday. The only thing I can think of putting in there is a Java Fern.
It's basically a blank canvas so any ideas would be nice :thm:

like I said, blank canvas right now, all I now is that Im going to have tiger barbs in there

You should probably figure out what type of lighting you are going to be using before asking for advice on what type of plants to put in the tank. I have a huge sword of some type in the tank with my tiger barbs and they hang out around it all day.

i always think anubias is an awesome plant for low lights. along with some mosses or some java fern

I like java fern personally. I also have an amazon sword, but due to low lighting, its very slow growing in my tank.
