O-H I-O!
So, my first speech for my speech class is this coming weekend, I was trying to think up some ideas to throw in to educate my fellow classmates on the basics of fish keeping. If you all could help me with some ideas that would be WONDERFUL! Just keep in mind, it is a 3-5 min speech, so I wont be going into too much detail.

My ideas right now, to explain briefly the cycling process, what sizes of fish to look out for when using smaller tanks, and water changes.

Do you guys think more should be added for just the basics? I'm sure that will last we at least 4 mins, but I just want to be sure I cover it all the important things.

Thanks guys in advance!

the importance of researching the fish you like before they buy and find its got 2 big lol. like no common plecs or oscars in 10g tanks

you could talk about water changes and that they should be done more then once every 2 months. when i was a kid thats what my dad told me and the fish never lasted long. you could talk about how bad over feeding is for the tank too

I did want to enter in something about tank busters and researching. I will have to get a list going....or maybe actually into the store. I know that Petsmart and petco have brochures on the different kind of fish they sell...not that the information is completely correct.

I thought about sharing some of my first experiences on fish keeping. I thought it could show the audience that I was in their shoes at one point in time.

Maybe some reasons why people should keep fish.

I actually had not thought about that!! Maybe compare and contrast with other animals?

Thanks guys! This helps more than you know!

You could talk about other animals that you can keep in your fish aquariums besides just fish, like shrimp, crabs, frogs, snails, etc. :) Also might talk about aquascaping and why plants are good for aquariums, etc. Like it's a mini community not just a bowl with a fish swiming around *gasp*
