I have a 2.5 gallon tank with a female betta in it in my daughters room. Right now I have an old filter rated for "up to 10 gallons", and the current is too strong for her. I'd like to just run a small sponge filter in it, but I need a quiet pump because it's next to my daughters bed. I wouldn't mind an Azoo palm filter but I don't want to buy it if that current is too strong. Any suggestions?

The Azoo Palm filters are great. The flow is adjustable down to a trickle if you want. Extremely quite and easy to service. I have one on a 1gal finnex type tank.

I agree with ftm concerning the azoo palm filters. They're typically less than 10.00, so you won't have to splurge. :)

Edit: I forgot to mention that you can add a valve to the airline tubing for your sponge filter that can control how much air is going through the filter. I have this setup on my 2.5 betta tank and have turned the valve so that only small amounts of air are allowed through, and it's fairly quiet. There is barely any surface agitation with my setup, but with weekly water changes and my fish having a labyrinth organ, I don't think it's a problem. ;)

Walmart sells an internal filter that actually takes a cartridge.
Its air driven, and comes with an air pump.
It sells for like $8

I picked up one for 2-10 gallons they are the Whisper 10i comes with everything filter, air pump and air tubing..

I second the Whisper 10i
GREAT little filter!
