Are there any other types of freshwater puffers thats not to difficult to find it for sale rather then dwarf puffers? i've read and saw figure 8 puffers and seem like they are more peacefull then dwarf puffers..are figure 8 puffers difficult to find for sale? can you list the type of fresh water puffers that go for sale at fish stores? THANK YOU!

Generally, no puffer is peaceful, although there are quite a few people who have kept dwarves in their community with no problems.

Figure eights are brackish water fish. They will not thrive and be happy/healthy if you house them in a freshwater tank. Puffers in general are not peaceful fish. Like DP said, some have been successful having them in a community, but the majority of (fw puffer) owners have species only tanks.

Here are some freshwater puffers:

Don't hesitate to ask a lot of questions and find out about the species before you purchase it. :) good luck.

there is always the fahaka, but they get huge and super aggressive.

Never get a Fahaka. They're evil incarnate :eek3: :eek3: :eek3:

You can try DPs, but I would take a water sample to a trustable LFS, test it and show them it's fine, and ask if you can try buying fish and taking them back if they're getting chased.

Try Red Eye Puffers. They are really cool and a little more mellow than dp's. I keep 1 with some cories and he leaves them alone.

Yeah right the red eyes are worse than Dp's. If you keep other fish with puffers that are not puffers expect to come home to a dead fish occasionally when they have mood swings.

Knock on wood but mine coexists quite well with the cories. I wouldn't put anything else with him but fast bottom dwellers but I have seen it done in a places. I have been told by my lfs which does quite a bit with puffers that red eyes are less agressive than dps
