Okay, well i've run into a problem with my 20g setup. Well, somewhat of a problem i guess. My mom says i should put in a under gravel filter before i add the gravel i just washed, but i dont know if i should because i really dont want to deal with the pain in the rear of cleaning it. I was thinking of just getting a tank vacuum , but my mom insists on me getting the UGF.

What should i do? And can you please give me links to good tank vacuums i could get? either from walmart or petco / petsmart only please.

I hate my UGF I can't seem to get my Nitrates down and I think it is because of the UGF. The tank I just set up doesn't have one and I am much happier with it.

Whether you have UGF, RUGF or none, you will have to gravel vac...

An undergravel filter is used for biological filtration. A gravel vac is used for mechanicaly removing debris during your weekly water changes. You need both a form of filtration and a way of removing debris, so you need both. I might consider a diffrent form of filtration as was previously suggested.

:thm: stay away from UGF they suck are loud and a pain. go with a different filtration and get a python to clean the tank when doing water changes.

They are not loud and one of the quietest filters out there. The only pain they pose is for folks who do not like to maintain their tanks correctly.
