Hey, I have some aipstasia in my tank and I want to get rid of it before it starts to get to big or reproduce alot so i'm gonna get a peppermint shrimp-- Do you need to feed them or will they just eat the leftover food and decomposing organic material and stuff? if so what do you feed them? Do you need to do anything special to care for them? I have a FOWLR currently with a couple snails and red legged hermits and a yellow tail damsel-- I'm gonna get 2 clowns also in about 2 weeks!

Peppermint shrimp tend to be a little shy and do better in small groups, IME. I've never fed ours anything special, they've always been happy eating whatever else I'm feeding to the rest of the tank (frozen mysis, dry foods, etc.).

how big is your tank? If you get more then one clown dont expect them to be friends unless they are a mated pair.

I use the pep shrimp to control my aiptasia and they were very well. I havde a 120gal tank so i bought 5 of them and 2 weeks later everything was cleaned up. They tend to hide a lot and mostly come out at night to work.

I have a 29 gallon tank, and I plan on getting a pair for the clowns-- there are 2 occelaris right now at my lfs and i don't know if there really a mated pair for sure but they swim around together in the same tank so I'm thinking they are or at least that they will get along if they aren't. I'm probably gonna have to get rid of my yellow tail damsel when I get them though cause he will probably be too aggressive!
