tank infested with tiny snails

There are different species of MTS-type snails, you probably have an uncommon variety. I'd actually be interested in a handful, just for the sake of variety.

I would too, actually. Whatever they are, they'll certainly keep the sand substrate stirred.

I would MTS. I have a bunch that are smaller then the larger MTS that you normally see. These guys seem to stay under half an inch.

Scroll down to trumpet snails. Is that what you have?

Can they be freshwater limpets?

I thought limpets looked like this: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile129.html

Sorry, I could not resist! :lipssealedsmilie:

They really sound like a species of MTS, they stay hidden in the substrate and come out after lights out - try looking at your tank after lights out to see if there are any larger ones. If they are MTS, they really are not a nuisance unless they get to Biblical proportions (numbers)

Ahh! The Incredible Mr. Limpet!!!! I LOVE that old movie!!! :) I haven't seen it in a long time.....

Sorry..........back to the topic at hand!

There are some varieties of MTS that stay smaller than the usual ones.. though I'm not sure how squishable those are.

am i the only one who actively encourages snails? in my tropical neon tank, i have pond snails, apple snails and from somewhere i now have ramshorn snails (i think) small flat round ones, they are starting to get a bit pink in the body, im hoping they will look great once grown. i didnt think i had that many, but after sitting and looking last night im over run with them. i remove some from time to time and add them to my goldie tank, they love to eat them, especially the pond snails. i don tmind them, they keep the tank algae free, so its all good from my point of view. i just need to find some decent sized ones to go in my goldie tank now that wont be a snack for them!
