tank infested with tiny snails

try cucumber wedges on a string.. no kidding

^^ That was just mean.... yeah, feed them. Made me laugh.

dont add a fish just to get rid of snails, just like you wouldnt get one just to get rid of algae.

manually remove any you can see.

^^ There's your best solution, David.

You could always try limiting food rations for a little while. Make a conscious effort to keep any food from settling on the bottom by throwing in less food less often and keeping the gravel clean more often. You could do that while manually killing them as well. Between the starvation and the smushing, you might wipe them out.

This thread just reminded me of what I planned yesterday. I'll get working on an article for snail infestations and solutions. Plaalye is correct. Loaches are so over exploited just for this snail eradication and I'm starting to think this is an extremely poor excuse to start with loaches.:(

This is the route I would take. Limiting feedings cuts the source and killing any visible ones means you'll be attacking the problem from both ends :) If smashing them is such a pain, you can also remove them and freeze em. The only pest snail I can imagine that would hurt to try and crush is a baby MTS. Maybe the adults are in the substrate. They are notoriously good hiders! Plus, the triangle shape you describe could be a small cone, right?
