I have dealt with those big 'box pet stores' for the last time... I purchased 2 Bettas maybe 2 weeks ago... The female has columnaris and I have no idea what was wrong with my male but last night he was struggling to keep centered and swimming down... I didnt get a chance to get to my LFS because it was 11PM and when I left for work at 8AM he was still kicking- i am making a trip to my LFS soon... He was dead when I arrived home.. So I call the Big Box Pet Store and told them the situation only to get met with "Sorry we cant do anything because you dont have your reciept." to which i replied "I bought them less than 2 weeks ago and you have looked up my previous sales without a recipet before... You sold me sick fish and should make it right" silence followed by "Well we dont do that anymore and sorry for your loss" and she hung up... NEVER AGAIN!:swear:

that sucks.. but i bet the policy clearly states you need the receipt.

favors and hookups are nice.. but never expect them.

this world's got too many policies and fine print.

Sometimes taking that little extra effort to make a customer happy can help out a business (and the customer) exponentially.

as much as fine print sucks... and in a lot of cases isnt necessary... (as in this one), it protects people from those who would otherwise take advantage.

I vote lawsuit.

I went to corporate with Amante's help and have a complaint in.... hopefully soem right will come out of this - its just horrible that an animal had to die to prove the point that chain stores stink.... TY for all of the replies

I vote lawsuit.

That's a big part of the problem - those that think lawsuits are THE answer to all of life's problems when they (either seller or buyer) feel like they have been wronged. Take away any sort of monetary awards and see how fast lawsuits drop in numbers. Instead you clog up the judicial system with micro-management of business practices. Nobody ever wins or learns from it - what a shame.

For every good business out there, there is likely 10% or greater of customers trying to put one over on them. Honesty and fair business' are passe anymore. corporate stores seem to be the worst of the worst.
