Does anyone use air filters on their air pumps?

Like the title says do any of you guys use air filters on your air pumps ? If so do they get dirty ? ? I have never used one only check valves....:)

never heard of them.
 
They look like a check valve filled with what looks like filter floss.
 
I thought those were check valves....?
 
That's something I haven't seen yet either. Do air pumps expell something other than air that causes problems?
 
Cant find pics for the life of me but I was staring right at them today when I was buying a cart load of stuff at pet smart

Cant find a pic to save my life. It is basically a connector piece for air line tubing the size of a check valve but filled with that white filter floss....
 
some of my larger air pumps have a air filter on the bottom that has a small cotton disc that gets dirty after a while and i just replace it with a small amout of filter floss.
