How much water do you change every week?

55 gallon mbuna tank=75% weekly
5 gallon=50% weekly

10 gallon.....50% weekly, some times 2x a week. depends on the load ( new babies etc)

29 gallon ....50% water change a week.

We are planning on installing a system this summer to store all the drained tank water in a sistern (spelling) to use to water the lawn, gardens, and orchard.

I change water 97-98% exactly every 36 hours. I let the water drain until all fishes lay down flat on their sides. This is a bit challenging when you have frys in the tank.

60 gallon mbuna 50%
150 gallon oscar 50%
75 gallon planted community about 30%
About 140 gallons a week lol

I'm just kidding. I noticed many people here change way more than I do... I should be less lazy on these water changes. :evil_lol: I typically do 25-40% per week.

okay - my last post was rather sarcastic... its what I do... but it seriously got me thinking and now somewhat depressed. As a bona fide' card carrying former hipster and devoted environmentalist, I suddenly am wondering if I'm a "false conservationist" considering how much water I use for these changes every week.

Which brings me to my scientific question - IS there any way to recycle tank water??? I mean doing it legit (don't come back at me with "thats what happens when it goes down the drain")... I'm not stupid (on this particular subject anyway)

I do 50% WC weekly.

I have a grey water recycling unit under my house that is where the fish tank water goes. (it doesn't just recycle fish tank water). This is then used to either water the garden flush the toilets etc you get my drift.
