1 of my female Platy jumped out of my tank, I was checking to make sure that they were all there a minute ago because I had a few odd mishaps and she was behind the tank dead!! :( I didn't get there in time, I think she may have done it over night!

Any idea as to how I can prevent this from happening again, is it something to do with my tank or did she just take a leap of faith?

Is your tank covered? Did she just find one of the little crevices in the cover?

Seal the openings, dont make them air-tight though. Some fish will repeatedly jump out of the tiniest of openings, without any reason that we understand.

I don't have a hood due to my light.. It doesn't fit on the hood from what I remember. It is open topped but this is the first time I've had a fish do that, I thought they loved my tank! AHHH

last night i lost a guppy.

sorry to hear that.

Look into a glass hood. They are made to fit under most, if not all lighting fixtures.

Fish just like to jump sometimes. They're training for the fishy olympics or something.

What if I were to put a mesh or like netting around it about 6 inches higher? would this help solve the issue, also I don't want to do the glass or plexy glass due to my filtration, I have 2 HOB filters attached.

The glass tops leave enough room at the back for HOBs.
