My fish commit suicide!!

Fish will jump for a lot of reasons, including escaping bullying or snapping at a tempting morsel. (My betta recently hit the lid when a gnat flew into his tank...:screwy: ) Go to Petco or Petsmart or your Mom&Pop LFS and buy a hinged glass lid. They come with a plastic strip you can cut to fit the equipment on the back. That will stop most jumping, but fish have an amazing talent for finding that one small opening.... :(

As a temporary solution I picked up wire mesh (the same stuff used in screen doors) to cover the top, and I had some extra Styrofoam to cover off the back portion where my HOB filters and DIY CO2 are. So far I haven't seen any fish lying around, or seen any jump, if they have.. well then my mesh is doing its job.

Right now, I have 2 mesh strips going across, I'm thinking I will make a rectangular casing to hold it in a just sit it on top of the tank.. right now my light is holding the mesh down.
