hee hee, i know this. it is also an illegal fish in the state that i reside(CA). that doesn't bother me though. much like gun laws, environmental laws are simply an attempt to isolate an entire polupation from something because of a couple of nimrods. i pay attention to neither sets of laws.
conversly, this petition does what exactly? it negates a code of justice? it disrupts a states dealing with illegal items? why not just petition the legalisation of this fish? lol then this whole discussion would be a mute one:thm:
The point is that it's this dude's fish that he's had for 10 years and he's really attached to the thing and hell, worse things have been grandfathered in (**coughmutilatingchimpcough**) so there's no reason this can't be an exception to the rule. It's not just a fish, it's his fish. That's like saying someone you love and care about is just another person and easily disposable because there are so frickin' many of us. Which may be the case to a stranger, but not to you, and not to anyone who can sympathize with you. Dig?

We dont have things like this in the UK....But, can someone explain to me that, when the petition gets to 1000....what then? does the fish magically find a new home? I may be being a little thick, or even incensative or something, but, i just done get whats supposed to happen with this, or what your trying to achieve...

the point of a petition is to get something changed or get a goal accomplished...
are you petitioning the state of NY to change its laws?
thats the only thing I can think of.. and even if it were to work (longshot to say the least).. it still doesnt find the snakehead a home because it takes time to change a law..

The point of 1000 is it shows lawmakers that a significant number of residence in an area are willing to sign their names to a cause. It all comes down to keeping politicians thinking that passing something or giving an exception will keep them in office.

I can understand that CCM..thanks....BUT...what is this going to achieve? Ok, fair enough, if it was this.. " If you get 1000 signatures, we WILL give the fish a new home "....but its not....or...." If you get 1000 signatures, we will change a certain law "....but, again, its not...these are the reasons why i dont follow why a petition is running or what its going to achieve.....must be because i am not a resident of the US and cant comprehend what this will achieve...sorry...
