Hey all, I'm looking for an aquarium stand for my 10g tank. I prefer to be wooden with a cabinet. This is only because I currently have one of those wrought iron ones, and it isn't keeping my tank very leveled. I wanna get a new stand quick before anything bad happens.

I'm not allowed to put my tank on other pieces of furniture, so that is not an option. Building a stand is not an option either because of my paranoid parents.

So does anyone have any suggestions? Or recommend anything?

Shim up the iron stand with a washer, a penny or whatever.

It might also help to cut a piece of plywood to fit between the tank and the stand's top. Paint it black and it won't be very noticeable. That would help against any irregularities there might be at the top of the stand. Once that's set, use a level and shim the legs at the bottom, like already mentioned.

go with a waterproof paint and you should be fine.

^^^ ooooo i like that idea!!!

What do you guys mean by shim?

I might go with the plywood idea, but what do I do if I accidentally soak the wood with water, and the wood weakens?

Take it easy this is not rocket surgery

The iron stand has four legs, right?

Either the floor is not level or the stand (maybe both), grab a level the wobble the stand around until the tank level and then use a strong piece of material (washer, penny, nickel, dime, quarter, bottle cap, knee cap or whatever) and put it beneath which ever leg to above the floor. Stack additional shims if necessary.

If the stand is level but the tank is wobbly then put the shim beneath the tank on the trim.

Wood can be used but it will get wet and will rot (if not treated), washers and bottle caps might rust, coins should not rust (avoid 1943 pennies) and knee caps will probably get mushy.
