What Works for Me May Not Work for You

~ I have never had a live plant in any of my tanks.
~ My filter media gets rinsed in old tank water with every water change.
~ I never wash my hands before putting them into the tanks (unless I have cream on), but do afterwards.
~ I talk and interact with my fish daily. My husband thinks I'm nuts lol
~ My tank lights are on anywhere from 1 to 5 hours a day. Never more than 5. Otherwise they are off unless I have company. The fish seem to prefer it that way and the tank is in a brightly lit room so the fish are still visable whenever I want to see them or need to mess around with the tank.
i think more people do that than will admit!!!

I do a 50% WC once a week.
I grow plants, lots of plants...
I have no idea how many fish I have since I often can't see them to count them.
I overfeed a couple tanks so that I can produce snails.
I have a figure 8 puffer that loves snails. So much so that his tank pretty much has snail shells as substrate at this point.
I don't test freshwater unless something goes hinky.
I don't gravel vac since a: I don't use gravel and b: I'd have to be able to get a vac to the substrate.
I've spent hundreds on good substrate. And the one that works best is the $15.00 40lb bag of soilmaster select over a bit of peat moss.

i haven't had to use my liquid water tests in months... :D

Heres my list, totally agree with the statement, "If it aint broken, don't fix it!"
1. Overfeed all tanks.
2. Overstock all tanks.
3. Monthly waterchange with gravel vac(sometimes longer).
4. Never test my water(until last week when I got my first kit).
5. Never quarantine, just let the bag sit and dump it all in.
6. Don't own any chemicals or salt.
7. Only clean filters only when flow has minimized to nothing.
8. I'm a bucket hauler, most of the time water goes straight in from the tap into the bucket and then right into the tank.(no sit time)
9. Use hot tap water to clean everything.
10. Everytime I go to the LFS I buy something even if i don't need it
11. Never cycle any of my tanks. In goes the water, in goes the fish, never lost anything yet.
12. Tank lights are all the time(12 -16hrs) because I like watching my fish while I'm home.
13. I have a 1 eyed fish and think its the coolest thing in the world.

ok ok if everyone is doing it lol.

I clean the outside glass of my tanks so much that my 3 yr old and 19 month old take baby wipes and wipe the glass.

I made my family go to the beach in january and dig through the 2 feet of snow to find more rocks and driftwood for the tanks.

I have no couter space left in my kitchen because the living room ran out of space for tanks so i had to start putting them in the kitchen.

I cant stand dirty tank water.

Our fish are completely spoiled.

No one else would be able to take care of the fish the way we do so we dont go away.

We have a live bearer tank for food but i have kept most of the babies because they were too pretty to get eaten.

We rarely clean filters as they work just fine.

We test water weekly to keep ph steady.

our lfs knows us by name and will order anything we ask for.

My fish eat better then i do.

If i visit someones house and they have a dirty fish tank i think badly of them.

I go to my fathers once a month to make sure that he has cleaned his fish tank.

My friends and family are sick of hearing about my fish.
