I have been looking for some paint for aquarium decorations and finally contacted Krylon directly re. their Fusion paint for plastics/resin. This is the response I received this morning:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact Krylon. Unfortunately, we don't recommend any of our products for immersion. We also have not tested the effects on fish when our product is immersed in water.

I'm sorry I couldn't help.

Sincerely,
Greg

Does kind of make me wonder what kind of paint the manufacturers of "aquarium safe" ornaments use.

Buyers beware - especially since everything is made in China, where they seem to have fewer controls over materials used in manufacturing.

Perhaps you should make a suggestion to them to formulate some. They could probably make a good profit off of it.

I believe that acrylic paints are aquarium safe. I read it somewhere, sometime ago, can't remember where. Anyhow, good luck.

Many folks here and at MFK have not had issues with Krylon Fusion spray paint on items in the aquarium.

But their certainly fine for the back of aquariums right?

x2. I know people who have had zero issues in years with Fusion used on in tank plumbing, returns, etc.

I think they are just covering their butts. If they haven't tested it, they aren't going to recommend it.

:iagree:Most places are like that now.

That's a good idea. I think that if more people asked for products that are aquarium safe we would see more on the market.
