Would it work to put a single angel fish in with my female bettas and kuhli loaches? (35g hex, 6 bettas, 7 kuhlis)
I don't know much at all about cichlids, so I have no clue if they'd be compatible or not.

i would pass on the angel.. they swim more horizontal for starters

i had a female betta in with my two angels just fine, and the betta had spent a majority of her life by herself prior to being in the tank (i've noticed that female bettas get a lil b****y as they age, hahaha). actually, i had this female betta in with all the other fish in my sig, but i tend to break a lot of rules of stocking, lol.

it is a matter of opinion.

I personally don't like hex tanks. but that aside they are usually taller and angels need relatively tall tanks. their fins will benefit by this. especially long fin varieties and wilds.

but hex tanks typically have a small footprint. Angles like to swim. in my 29's they move all over .. and utilize most of the space in a 55. even if they establish a territory. they seem to try to expand it on a whim.

i would not put an angel with the kuhli loaches...less u are ready to holler "lunch is served" the angel will go after them like they are worms. Angels are South american cichlids and carnivores....bettas and kuhlis are south east asia...yucky end of the river...muddy shore type dwelling folk... dark water, driftwood, lots of plants and sand...
i would not combine them..get your self a nice 30 gal tank for a pair of angels and everyone will be happy till they out grow the 30

Okie dokie, thanks. I'm planning on getting another 75+ gallon tank eventually, so I guess I'll wait until then to try angels. Don't want my kuhlis to become stripey spagetti. :)
