10w CFL light bulbs..

customdrum those bulbs won't fit in his hood because they only fit those tube shaped bulbs. But yeah I use those same bulbs you have pictured also, all in different watts too. But you have to modify some hoods for it. the ones tigerbarb are talking about are the ones pictured I think. I have some of those in use also.

2 bulbs should be fine. depending on the plants and your lighting schedule

Haha yeah! those are the ones! :D those are the exact same ones i saw last night on the shelf.. they were priced around $4.90 or something like that. Definately picking them up after class.

I have the bulbs from Walmart and they are totally worth it. I use them on my 5 gallon bow front and a 10 gallon tank I have. The tank itself looks so much better and brighter then the Incandescent bulbs that it came with. I have a planted tank but it isn't this tank right now. I'll wait until I move my baby red devil out of the tank to try and plant it.

I don't know any 100w CFL at Walmart that will fit a 10 gallon hood. If it has the out put of 100w then the actually wattage used is like 26w.

No matter if it is a fish tank, reptile light or a lamp that you use around the house you never want to use a bulb that the actually wattage is more then it is rated for. It can cause a fire or at the very least shorten the life of the bulb.

10w

I was excited about these lights too and bought 2 of them from Walmart, I rushed home put them in. the tank looked so good. Then I noticed that my fish were hiding under the filter in the shade. They are too bright. :headshake2: had already thrown away package and now am using my old regular lights. I have tiger barbs by the way

Noooo.. dont tell me that.. Lol

Im still gettin them :D

i hope hatchet fish are not as sensitive.

the bulbs are too bright for fish, they will just need some time to get used to it, although none of my fish seemed to notice a difference.

I have mine over a planted shrimp tank and the shrimp adjusted fine. I am not sure how fish will re-act. Give it a couple days and see if they come around, I am pretty sure they will.
