OMG!!! My Plecos eyes are gone!!! AHHHH!!!

Lesser: I know! He's doing great! You gatta see this slideshow I made of photos... lol

kjr: Its ok! No advice needed, I have him on the road to recover as we speak... watch the slide show! ;) Thank you for the support!

Okay, so I took him out of his tank to get comparison photos so I could see & document his actual recovery compared to the photos taken from his first night of abuse...

It's quite extrodinary to see his Day 1 photos next to his Day 11 photos. I know some of ya'll will see this as equally exciting so I thought I should post it.

BTW: He was a PAIN IN THE BUTT to catch today... a HUGE difference from "Day 1" where he just sat there and let me scoop him up...

So remember, the slideshow goes day 1, day 11, day 1, day 11, day 1, day 11, and so on every-other-one. It will be listed at the top so check that if you are not sure, although I am postitive you will see the difference!

Awww! What a fighter, I am still so amazed how he has hung in there and slowly recovered. I guess if my one eyed cory cat can do it why not an eyeless pleco? It's refreshing to see people like you, instead of giving up hope you did all you could to aid in his recovery. Bravo on your part. Thanks for sharing such a heart warming story. I hope to see some AC/DC dancing videos real soon ;)

Erm, yeah. I have 2, they're peppered corys. They get along great! You'd really never know they only had 1 eye each unless you inspected them really close. One came that way (WM rescue) the other was sort of my fault...I had him with a crayfish who decided to make a snack of him one day. :mad2: Mistakes happen. My DH saved him in time. (I learned and it won't happen again)

QT in fresh water and melafix (I swear by it most ppl think it's a hoax) once it started to heal I would add a pinch of salt every now and again like every other WC. Now you really can't tell. They school with my other cories panda and skunks and it's fun to watch them play in the bubble wall. As long as their owners still love them there is always hope! :headbang2:

Anyway so don't beat yourself up by what happened to Daredevil, it was a learning experience. You have a big heart to go through all that to ensure his safety while on the road to recovery.

Wow. Just read through this thread and 'wow' is the first thing that comes to mind. You did an amazing job nursing him back to health and he looks amazing. Love is a great healer!

Thx Vanilla! Food and 50% waterchanges seem to be the best healer. ;)

I dont think I will ever treat my fish with anything else. This is the 2nd fish I have treated with merely clean water and good food that has turned around. (Treated a case of pop-eye on one of my cichlids the same way w/ same structure for quick tank stabilizing and he healed right up, saved the eye in this case.)

There's nothing better for them than those 2 things. I'm so impressed with out resilient fishes are, it's made me fall even more in love with the hobby.

It's been great getting on AC, finding other people just as, and often, more obsessed than myself and in such a wide range of aquatic life. This place has been a great source! Thanks ya'll! ;)

Yikes! His left eye is now red again. I'll do some serious water changes here, the levels are good (tested for ammonia, nitrate and nitrites) but it looks irritated or infected. I'll watch him through tomorrow. If the red does not die down by tomorrow afternoon, I'm going to medicate for infection. What do you suggest?

Just started cleaning for a 75-80% water change and there seems to be no waste in the tank, which is something we usually see... Blanched spinach was planned for Daredevils dinner but I'm thinking peas should be in order do to the fact it seems he is not passing the algae wafers he has been eating... :(

I hope he is ok. I guess we'll know tomorrow afternoon-ish. What a rollercoaster ride he has given us.

I'd recommend melafix or something of the like. Aloe and the vitamins I doubt would hurt. But that is JMHO. I hope he pulls through this, he has come this far. Good luck!
