I would keep it to small schooling fish. The tank, and the AQUASCAPE should be the focus it is hawt. The discus would stand out to much IMO.

I think Discus make a good planted tank look unnatural. The colors of the Discus are too bright and they look out of place.

some people say go with small fish to make it look larger. some people say you need a centerpiece fish. some people say......... etc etc. If you like discus go with discus, full grown pair would be advised, I would get a confirmed pair of wilds if it were my choice.

Sorry you couldn't make it ... I think there were 6 or 7 there total - good group of people (very knowledgeable). Would love to go to the next one. I think the first nice day kept some away.
I think it needs to be wild Discus (if any). Sorry, just can't do the Altums. We have / had 3 in our 45 (1 remains) - that's enough for now.
