Setting up a Lake Malawi Tank

Should be here tomorrow!!!!!!!!! WOOT

AHHHHHHHHHH, they didn't make it today! I am soooo sad :(

What do you mean with "they didn't make it"?

Ok, another new question. I have seen where ppl use egg crate under their rock to relieve the pressure points from the rock on the bottom of the tank. Sooooo as I was pulling the UGF out, I am looking at it and thought, would that work? If I don't connect anything to it and I put it in the bottom, would it serve the same purpose as the egg crate would?

I am QUITE late on this thread, and I am not finished reading, and I did notice you had it all set up already- but i thought I'd let you know about egg crate. I place egg crate at the bottom of all my tanks for one reason, and one alone.

Cichlids like to dig. If they dig under rocks (which they REALLY LIKE) then the rock slips and all rocks supported by the base rocks go tumbling.... if you have egg crate then the rock slips only a little before it hits an edge created by the egg crate and stops. This prevents your fish or tank from being damaged by slipping/sliding rocks caused by digging.

Just wanted to add that 2 cents. Cant wait to see the fishes! :)

OMG...I didn't mean they died by that, SORRY I can see where that could be taken that way. No, I just meant they didn't ARRIVE yesterday.

ALTHOUGH.....................they are here today!!!! They were shipped WONDERFUL, each in their own bag, it was soooo nice!

SMD, thank you for your thoughts....I know this is turned into quite a long thread but it was what I started out with and just kept it going as I progressed. I did use the "eggcrate" from the UGF, my thoughts were exactly what you said, the fact they dig so much I just thought for "support" reasons it would be best to use it. :)
