Dear fellow members,
I have eclipse 6g and I really like to upgrade to 20g. But the problem is given the economy situation:cry:, I am hoping to do so without costing an arm and a leg. What would you guys recommend to do? (other than craigslist)
Thanks!

Oh, I forgot to mention that. Right now I have fresh water tank (5 neons, 3 shrimps) and move them to a bigger tank + have more fish. Thanks for asking.

i know you said not craigslist, but it really is the best/easiest way to go in your situation. also try kijiji.com
you could also search ebay and hope that one of the jillions of good deals are near you. but i have yet to have any luck with that.
good luck! :)

I have to agree craigslist can be a great place.i bought a 55 gal complete with stand for 100.00 sat i picked up a 30 gal long complete with stand for 75.00 just be careful a lot of people say their tank is one size and you find out its not even close .

Walmart has a pretty inexpensive 20g kit.

Become a member of your local fish clubs. Often members have extra tanks lying around that they will part with inexpensively. Also, clubs are a great way to get other stuff inexpensively or for free.

After I bought my first tank I've never bought another tank from the store. All the others I've gotten from Craigslist.

I saw a 55 gal at Goodwill for ELEVEN NINETY-NINE once, with the hoods and everything! We were going through a tough time and all I had was about 12 bucks, darn it, and it was gone gone gone before I got back.

I also got my 29 gallon with the hood and stand, a ten gallon with a hood and stand, and a SEVENTY FIVE gallon with hoods and stand, miscellaneous hoods, filters, and heaters, all from the same woman, off Craigslist, for FREE. It cost me $15 in gas to go pick them up.

I think Craigslist is your best bet. You can also go to Yahoo Groups and see if there is a Freecycle group in your area.

Ditto. Check the classifieds here, in the papers, any sort of used person-to-person deals are usually the cheapest to go with.

Also keep an eye on the local pet stores since they will often have $1 per gallon sales on tanks. I believe Petsmart is currently running a special on small tanks, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
