i just got some neons and i was wondering how long they live if there like bettas and live 3-5 years or anything else
there in a 10 gallon and theres 5 of them if that matters

I heard up to 5 years. Mine are 2 years old.

depends on a lot of factors. were they used in a fishless cycle? what are the water parameters they are kept in? are you housing them with a snakehead? all of these factors (and more) will have an impact on longevity

I have 6 at the 7 year mark.

Lol, that is a good range. A bit off topic but my LFS had some neons an owner had given them. One of these fish was a good two inches long! It was twice the mass of any neon I have seen. Must have been pretty old.
You sure it wasn't a cardinal? they look almost exactly the same, longer stripes, but they get a lot larger.
