so, i got my frogbit from KIM_TMA today, and as she said, there were lots of little hitch-hikers, which appear to be MTS and maybe pond snails (? idk what she's got in her tank; i'm sure she'll tell me shortly ;)), and i was rejoiced to see different kinds of snails. i was very careful to make sure every leaf was free of snails before i put any in the turtle tank, and dumped them into the fish tank with the majority of the frogbit. as i turned over one clump of leaves, however, i did not find snails. i found the prize in the crackerjack box!!!

:thud::dance:

i'm guessing that these are snail eggs, from whatever the tiny round snails that came with the shipment are. would anyone care to confirm or deny, so this newbie knows what to celebrate and then prepare for?

:bday:

p.s.- oh, and thanks, kim! guess you did send me snails afterall! :D

i was just about to say that the non-pointy snails looked like ramshorns, upon further inspection. woot! i's excited ^_^

I'd be excited if I see more ramshorns but mine have only 4-5 babies maybe. I wonder why they can't proliferate as my previous batch a few years back. Mine are definitely with one or possibly a couple nerites (the rest were moved to another tank), trumpets and diffusas. Maybe food competition disallowed them to proliferate quickly.

awwww =( well, the clutches are definitely small, especially after looking at all the pictures of people's mystery clutches! i see about a dozen or so tan dots in here, so i'm hopeful. there was one or two good-sized ramshorms in with the plants, too, so here's hoping! =) (i know they've got plenty to eat, too lol)

i don't think of them as pests, i have a turtle to feed, and i've had an "invert-only" tank of my to-do list since i bought my tank two months ago lol.... also, i've only had living things that weren't plants in my tank for about five days, so discovering that i have eggs is awesome and totally unexpected lol

(i'm also not ashamed of my eagerness... i amuse easily and i'm fine with that lmao)

:silly: I'd love more ramshorns but I can't seem to magick them into producing in hundreds and my red ramshorns package is still pending.:perv:

lol

well, if i start to find myself overrun, i certainly know where i can pawn some off :D
