URGENT: Shark's skin coming off/infected?? Help please!

Why use if known to be avoided regardless of toxic level. Shark is already in enough trouble.

BTW, How is the Tough Guy, Dano?
 
Please let us know how he's doing. We're all pulling for him.
 
His black growth on the wound is continuing, some patches of black...I'll take a picture and post it later, his wound doesnt seem to be getting any deeper, but still red/white patchy...less loose skin now...

I have been using the meds, I should stop?
 
He's showing signs of improvement? That is wonderful news! I am pulling for this little guy (well little big guy) I hope he recovers!

I'd follow this advice. Just keep up the big water changes.
We'd love to see pics of him. You're doing a great job to be keeping him alive and healing.

The med with formaldehyde is not good for open wounds, though, according to the Rx pros. I'd discontinue that.

he had a Paroon Shark, 2 Oscars, a Severum, a CAE, and some Catfish...
Paroon Shark: 500 gallon
Oscar: 55 gallon (for 1, 75 for 2)
Severum: 40 gallon
CAE: 30 gallon
Catfish: could be from 5g minimum for Ottocinclus and Cories to 5,000g for a Goonch, Zungaro, or Filamentosus. (im gessing its a large one if it bit the Paroon):headshake2:

BF, I hear ya'.... don't get me started... wasn't this for the QT tank he was setting up though? I'd have to go back and look. Regardless, IMO paroons should not be sold to the general public unless adequate tank setup can be proven (i.e. 500-1000 gallons). They are totally inappropriate for home aquariums. Ditto arapaima g. and certain other monster specimens.

EDIT: There is a difference between the 'monster' that is an arowana and the 'monster' that is a gigas. There has to be some accountability to demonstrate that tank size is adequate for these true monsters. Heck, I'd even accept a sincere customer with a photo of his 1000 gallon tank and some demonstrated knowledge of the care required. Sorry to hijack the thread, but it is a soap box.

That's great dano, sounds like he is indeed improving; pics please.

Stop using the medicine. Formalin/formaldehyde solutions on open wounds can poison the specimen. Water changes still daily?
 
Read this whole thread and dang that fish is a fighter. Was looking at this fish online and saw its potential size and good grief it gets huge at a lil ove 8ft long from what one website said and stating it is one of the largest freshwater fish know out there and I thought Red Tail Catfish were big.

Hope your Paroon Shark recovers completely.
