how many tiger barbs will fit in a 55 gallon?

Not all that often, at least as far as I've heard, but it can be done, even by accident, if your water is right. Check around with your local aquarium club--they should know if one of their members has done it.

Thanks. The "local aquarium club" isn't all that local but when it comes to traveling to get fish that will actually live...I'm willing to do so!

Yeah, and neither would the tetras imo.

With a tiger barb only 55 gal you can have 30 tiger barbs in all (says so here http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1459108#post1459108 ). Personally, I'd have about 20 tiger barbs and 6 giant danios

Ahh i see. Ok cool thanks! :) I dont wana have like 20 tigers though.. thats a lot! Lol maybe ten or 12 will do. I will probably give my tetras to my brother, his tank is rather empty since his pleco died.. thats the only fish he had in there, the tank is still running with its filter.

You could get fish that will go good with tiger barbs. I'm planning on stocking my 55g with 12 tiger barbs, 1 shark (probably a rainbow), and a couple small plecos. And maybe 3-5 clown loaches, until they outgrow the 55g. do some research on what fish are compatible with tiger barbs. :)

In my 60 tank I have 10 Tiger barbs in my community 5 big stripe and 5 smaller green but they all school together and are for the most part oblivious to my 5 Tetra minors, 1 male Beta (usually segregated), 3 Otto's, 2 Cory, 1 Dwarf Gourami, 1 medium Gobi Dragon, and 1 large African Dwarf Frog. Iv downsized since my TB's have grown especially some of the stripes have gotten the size of my API test bottles and the fish load even with two filters has gone up noticeably.
