I've got him isolated with only a pea for him to feed on. Is there anything else I can do to help him poo? I hate that it's gotten this far but I rarely see these guys (I've got 3 in there and I can't even find the other 2) so when I noticed it this afternoon, I pulled him out immediately to get him help.

Why are you sure he's constipated?

his belly is /really/ fat and it looks like his anus is starting to protrude a little bit. i've tried taking a picture but he's such a fast little booger.

I just had to give my mudskipper a pea. LOL I figured it won't hurt them.

I'm interested in how this turns out, because that is exactly how mine looked before they died. The big hard tummy and bulging red anus. I thought maybe it was parasites, could never get the buggers to eat any veggies. I don't know how an oto would get constipated since all they eat is algae. Dang otos are so cute, but very hard to take care of.

Reframer for yours, parasites are a possibility since they are wild caught.

Do you think it could be a female filling with eggs? They get real fat bellies. Check my pics out here and compare to what you're seeing:

To me it seems a little unlikely that an oto would be constipated since they have a very very limited diet.
Part of the problem is i can't get him to come to the side of the glass. I've read your thread and looked for the yellowish color but the little stinker just won't sit still!

Due to the increased number of threats of this nature....

I am now going into a new busines... im going to market tropical fish flakes with exlax
