I was doing a water change today and when I poured some amquel in the water it smelled like rotten eggs. I know it wasnt supposed to smell like that, so I opened my new bottle to smell it and it smelled fine. I hope it dosent affect my water in any bad way. It was only about a teaspoon. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I haven't noticed that smell in Amquel, but many dechlorinators smell like rotten eggs. My plain sodium thiosulfate does, Prime does, and others. I'm not sure I'd worry about it, unless you have reason to suspect the Amquel became contaminated with something.

HTH,
Jim

If you have an older bottle of Amquel, it has a sulfur smell. If you have the 'new improved' version, that smell has been taken out. It should say on the back of your bottle.

I use Amquel plus and it does not smell.
i have found the opposite, my gallon jug of older amquel doesn't smell but my bottle of new amquelplus smells very "skunky". still works though so im not worried

Holy thread bump batman, but I must say this...

I got a bottle of amquel+, MY ENTIRE HOUSE SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS!

I'm getting a splitting headache trying to work in my home office, and I got the windows open. I just can't take it anymore. I'm really seriously about to throw this **** the hell out!

:iagree: That's the good stuff!!! "T"

I actually kinda like the smell. I know I'm weird, I usually get a whiff before adding to new water. I guess it's kinda like when you know you just let out a good one, and you know it's not going to be pleasant, but you stick around just for a quick whiff to assess just how good it was, before hauling *** to the other side of the house. Or am I the only one who does this?

:uhoh: I've been accused but I plead the 5th! :lipssealedsmilie:
