I have noticed in several posts that some of the most knowledgeable snail folks are not hatching Briggs anymore or way cutting back.
Just wondering is the market ( meaning all our aquariums) full? Or is there some other reason?

I also wonder if there is anyone out there that can offer advice on getting my prolific layers to give it a rest for a while?

I feel bad freezing all those clutches when I know how beautiful they will be ...purples, magenta's, blues, jades, ivories, chestnuts...but alas I couldn't possibly house them all and if nobody is interested in them anymore then I can't let them hatch. Can I??

So many people are hatching clutches and do not realize how much space is involved. Their snails will need new homes. For those who want snails, I would rather they get the ones that people are already hatching because ultimately those poor snails will die if they don't find new homes. This is why I am stopping.

Huff, if you cannot accommodate any more snails especially when the demand lowers because of the oversaturation of supply in the market, then you have no choice but to crush or freeze the egg clutches to avoid incoming space problems.

That is, unless you can make proper arrangements with a good LFS and then have the room to keep them until big enough to sell.

I have a deal with the only LFS in my area. It isn't just room to house them. I have a 110 gal, 2 X 30 gal, and 2 X 10 gal dedicated to my snails. It is also the time and money put into these snails to make their shells perfect, to make them exceptionally healthy. Hatching the clutch is the easy part. I don't sell my Bridgesii to get rich! If I calculated it out, I probably lose money on them. The demand for high quality snails just isn't there so much anymore.

i also have a deal with my lfs before i hatched 4 clutches, and then when they were ready the lfs backed out so i was swamped with them,.. luckily i have had home for most of them,.. there are a few left but i only hatched 4 clutches and more babies that i could shake a stick at,..lol so be wary of too many clutches,.
