how much are those now? i saw diff. prices

interested in few to COMPLETELY eliminate the snails in my tank they're not definely MTS though I think they're the common ramshorns when I know 100 percent for sure that they're gone I'll add MTS

let me know how many snails I would need for a 40 gal and a 55 gal and a 35 gal where those snails have completely taken over

and btw I'm thinking about doing sulawesi snails too so I wanted those ramshorns 100 percent GONE before i can even think about doing those as well too

What makes you think the Assassins will be 100% gone when you put your MTS or Sulawesi in the tank? I've seen my Assassins eat MTS without a problem.

they're very slow growers and its probably easy to get them out of the tank than ramshorns and I would like some assassins to remain in anyhow for MTS population control though that worries me about assassins vs sulawesis as I really like those guys due to them having repuation for alage control

whatcha think?

From personal experience, I have had 11 Assassins in a 29 gallon for about a month. I actually put a bunch of MTS and ramshorns in the tank prior to getting the Assassins because I wanted to make sure that they had enough food. I think the MTS, ramshorn, and pond snail population has increased since I put the Assassins in there about a month ago. The Assassins also bury into the gravel and their young are pretty small and they bury themselves into the gravel too.

With that said, I have seen 8 out of the 11 out at once in the month that I have had them so they aren't that hard to remove from the tank when they are larger, and I have yet to see any Assassin eggs in the tank within that month period, but the Assassins might not be big enough to breed yet. If you wait until the Sulawesi get pretty large and continually stock the tank with MTS for the baby Assassins that you cannot find, I think you will be fine. However, it will take vigilance on your part, which I do not have right now. If you continue to remove the Assassins before they reach breeding size, you should be fine.

how much, for assasins need something for snail control,..

would my betta be safe if i put them in there and just dump pond, rams in there i can scoop hundreds a week,..

the tank is a 5 gallon,. what size/age do they start to lay eggs?

i would like to just dump them in my 20l but i eventually want them out and a snail free tank so i can put some brigs in there. as of now all i do is feed pests and my snail/shrim don't get much,.. and i'm tired of spending $ on pests,.

how many would you suggest,.. i don't want to wait forever..

$4 for individuals, $12 per mated pair + $5 shipping via USPS Priority Mail. Most of the young snails have gotten bigger now.

for snail population control (not eradication), I'd say 1 snail per 5 gallon. Want them gone faster? 1 snail per 2 gallons. I also realized they'll eat the egg sacs of ramshorn and pond/bladder snails as well if they have nothing else to snack on, further eliminating the pest snail population.

My problem came when I couldn't find a single MTS in my tank and I feared my assassin population was going to crash. So I gathered them all up into their own tank.

the assassins will go for the pond and ramshorns snails first, then go after MTS. Ramshorns and ponds are easy targets as they do not have the trapdoors that MTS do.

Make sure all the assassins are taken out of the tank before you add the sulawesi snails. I can't be held responsible if you leave one in there and all you find are empty sulawesi shells.

yup. I've started doing that with mine. I have them out of my community tank and in a separate tank, occasionally throwing in MTS for food. Don't dump them in as assassins only takedown one, at most 2, snails a day.

I think mine were about 0.5" to 0.75" in length when they started laying eggs.

if you want them out fast, I'd suggest 10 for the 20g.

oh brother -_-

I do have alot of ramshorns egg sacs I'm always trying to get em off rocks when I'm doing deep cleaning driving me nuts cuz I do have wood in there as I know I just can't get to em and I did math I would definely need too many

just for those pesky ramshorns which I made the mistake of dumping java moss into long time ago

I'm going to try something different and try to get 1 mated pair and go for at least 6 of the other ones- hopefully I have patience of a saint :)

PMing ya!
