2.5 Gallon DIY Canopy and Stand Project

Initially, I wasn't sure if I liked it, but it has grown on me. The hood is almost as big as the tank itself! haha It's like a giant hat. It looks like you did a good job staining and matching the color of the light housing.

Personally, I like to see these sized tanks used as saltwater reef nano/picos, but I will definitely be watching this thread to see what you choose to do with it.

Great job!

yea i love it! me and smartdog126 built ours both together, his is huge!!! almost twice the size as mine lol,

the light i actually didn't match, i i painted my canopy and stand and just went to get the light and liked the oak one instead of black, so i got that and it fit perfect and looks good!!

its not a salwater reef nano/pico, its a freshwater Red Cherry Shrimp and Java moss tank!

Nice DoN_WoN, glad to see the pictures. I might try something like this in the future. Right now I think I might make a stand for my youngest sons tank. I don't know what size yet since I'm waiting for my oldest son to move out first before I decide on the size of the tank. It will at least be a 38g. Although I keep upping the size. Hopefully I can find a nice tank on CL cheap. I have filters for it, I want to make a stand and the lights so all I need is a tank. I think a 75g for two feeder goldfish should be good, right? I hope I have room for it.

Not really.
They get real big.
You would be ok for a year or so. But two, 3 lb fish in a 75 is alot of fish.

Two goldfish in a 75 would be fine. The min. for one is 20 gallons and 10 for each additional goldfish. Goldfish get to about 12". A 75g is the same size as your 55g but 18" rather then 12". I have a 12-14" long and about 8" high zebra tilapia in my 125g and he isn't even 3lbs. That's him in my avatar. Plus I believe in great filtration. I might get a 75R with a UV sterilizer like I have on my 125.

Anyways back on topic... DoN_WoN do you think that you might redo your canopy to fit your new light in it?

No I don't think I'm gonna redo it, that took me and smartdog126 2 days, and in this Florida heat It was brutal, I'm actually really satisfied with it so I don't think Ima redo it
