White Foam on Driftwood?!?!?

Ive been cycling my 2.5 gallon RCS tank with media from my other two tanks, i have ghost shrimp and one snail in it, ive had a piece of driftwood in the tank since day one, but then this morning i woke up and looked in my RCS tank.on the piece of driftwood there is this white foamy stuff on it..

what is it?
is it bad?
what do i do to get rid of it?

It is a fungus. Most driftwood gets it at the beginning but it will go through a lifecycle. It is harmless and some fish/shrimp will enjoy munching on it. It will go away in about a week.
 
:iagree: Same mopani wood from Petco. Same white cottony fungus. My Briggs (Diffusas), SAE's and Amanos loved it. Took care of it in about 1 week's time. Harmless, actually a tasty treat I imagine.
 
Molly's gobble driftwood fungus up like crazy, but yes it's completely harmless and my MTS love it, well at least until it went away in a week.
