Outdoor pond clarity? how to make it better?

I stick to my Egeria densa to help prevent green water although this time, I am sticking to green water for my goldfish.
 
Barley straw has been reported to work well to clear up green water. Then again the green water is very good for your fish. Adding in more plants also helps. Some fast growing floaters will really clear up the water.
 
I have live plants in mine and add fresh water daily to keep it full to the top, it stays clear to the bottom
 
For future reference because you are getting kicked out, next time you have a pond a bio canister filter with a UV light is magic for keeping water clear and healthy for fish like KOI and goldfish. Floating plants also work but if you are in a warmer climate area it is almost impossible to have clear water without a UV light despite all the plant coverage you may have.

My koi don't touch my plants because I feed them enough. Now in the summer 2-3x per weekday and 4-5x per weekend. Each feeding lasts about 15-30 seconds with every bit of feed eaten.

I use aquarium poly micro-floss - the stuff people use in their aquariums for filters. I buy it by the kilo and when my pond has issues - I change it every 2 days but now that it is stable and clear - I change it every week to 10 days. I place it between 2 pieces of mosquito netting for easy removal from my DIY filter:

This stuff is what really catches the micro particles that makes your water green and murky. After a week, it comes out green and yucky - and I just throw it out.
 
My local garden center sells good bacteria that I add every week faithfully. I also add slime coat liquid to help with their protective covering. I believe in this stuff!!! koigarden
