I have a heavily planted 10 gallon tank with RCS in it.I had thought that there might be 50 to 75 RCS in it until I did some major pruning in the tank. Now I think there is somewhere between 150 and 200,easily.I talked to someone who owns a LFS today, and they said they would be happy to take a few off my hands. In turn,I am getting some Emperor Tetra at a discount. The Emperors won't be here until next Friday.Right now the tank has the RCS and 2 male guppies.I need to get the numbers of the RCS reduced, but I really have no idea how to get them out. There is a carpet of hairgrass which they hide in,and short of removing it,which I do not want to do,I'm not sure the best way to remove the RCS.Also,is there a special net I should be using?I have a very small fish net,but it seems like it will be too big.
Any suggestions?

I've read of some folks using suction, like thru a reasonably sized water change hose. I myself have not tried this, but perhaps someone else can chime in with their experiences. In theory this sounds efficient..... if it doesn't kill the little guys.

I would put the net in the tank with some bait in the net, they will crawl in. Either that or destroy your hairgrass <ack!>

^ Good idea.I think that will work,Thanks!

I've found that a snail trap works. Take a 20oz bottle (cleaned) and cut the top off. Turn the top upside down inside the bottle and throw some food in it. It's harder for them to get out. Make sure you put small holes in the sides so that water can flow freely through the trap.
