my jungle vals look different than when i first bought them. some of the leaves look like peas in a pod.
they get 2.5 watts per gallon, twice a week i add flourish and a small dose of excel (less than recommended)
they seem to be growing and arent melting, but they got this weird pea look to them, or is that normal?

I've never had vals before, but I know that they love hard water. And cupped leaves are usually a sign of calcium deficiency. Do you know what the GH of your water is?

i know my water out of the tap is hard with a ph of around 7.6
i never tested the GH ( i dont have that test) but im plagued with hard water stains on glasses, around my sink etc lol
what are cupped leaves? mine look like ripples along the leaves
oh and do you know if bunched plants ever root?
ive had my Myrio,Filigree (Myrio simulan) for about three weeks now and still no rooting :(

Pull on the stems, the roots will be pretty well dug in if they exist. IME Myrio dug in deep in my tank, flourite, high lights and EI dosing. I had roots almost 8" long, pulling up most of my substrate when I removed them

the excel is causing that.

i was thinking that too, since it started right after i did my first dose of excel.
so thats bad then huh?

excel can cause vals to melt

thats the funny thing, their not melting, they just got what appears to be peas in their stems :(
i dose half of what they say only twice a week
for a 29g i dose half a cap

it's excel more than likely. looks like early warnings of a slow melt down. notice the hole melting from inside out. that leaf will probably melt in half.
