I finally got my pressurized CO2 set up for my 29 gallon, and I have 2 questions.

1 - For clarification purposes, do I only run the CO2 when the lights are on?

2 - I have a bubble counter. How many bubbles per second do I need?

Thanks for your help!

1- yes only when lights are on
2- get a drop checker with proper 4dkh solution which will tell you if you have a good concentration of co2 in the tank. Bubble rate differs with each tank.

Theirs your answer.

that's good. been waiting to use that huh?

I run my co2 24/7 but i have surface break with an airstone at night to gas off co2 and replenish o2. I also have a dropchecker, as almost everyone above said u should get one. I bought the cal aqua labs double check drop checker as seen here http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/co2-drop-checkers/cal-double-check.html. I like that one because it gives u an indicator solution and the 4dk solution and you match the color to the indicator soltution to have a good co2 concentration.

Pesonally, i do not go by bubbles/sec per say but rather just a look. I have about 6-7 bubbles/sec but with the way my tank is setup, that what i need to maintain the recommended co2 concentration. Everyones tank is different, you just need to experiment.
