My first clutch was on July 11. As of today it still has not hatched, what should I do or not do? I have 5 more since then... hoping for some success.
Thanks

Is the environment humid? Has the clutch changed in appearance? Where is it placed currently?

It is humid, It went from pinkish to white over the pink not like fungus on fish eggs, just a lighter color, it is in the place where is was layed by the snail, above the water on the glass.

When they get blueish color you know they are VERY close to hatching or about to hatch at that point.

First picture: just laid
Second picture: getting closer....
Third picture: and closer!!!!
Fourth picture: ew....about to hatch

I've posted these pictures way too many times :P

What kind of tank are you hatching them into? Are there any current occupants? If you are hoping to successfully raise a clutch, you need to make sure there are no fish or shrimp in the tank that will see them as a snack. If it is just them in the tank, then you can leave the eggs where they are and they'll hatch just fine. It can take anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks for a clutch to hatch so if it is fertile, it should hatch soon. That leads me to my next question: is there a male and female apple snail present in your tank? It take two to make baby apples ;). If you are sure they are fertile, then I'd just wait it out. I've had a couple of clutches come from females who had been mated previously but they were still infertile but that has only happened once. Good luck with your new babies! They are sooo cute when they hatch!

yep, give it some more time. as long as the air around the clutch stays fairly humid it should hatch. all my recent clutches i actually allowed to get rather dry (open top tank) and they seemed to hatch faster than those i had kept humid in the past. no idea why though.

you mentioned that you have 5 clutches now. if this is your first go at raising baby snails i would freeze and throw away all but one of your clutches, since each clutch yields many babies! we're talking possibly over 100 per clutch, and you really don't want to have to deal with that many baby snails.

as for Darryl's comment on the clutch turning blue when it's about ready to hatch, i've noticed that the darker colour appears when the clutch is filled with mostly dark snails, such as blue or jade. ivory and goldens do not produce the blue colour on the clutch before hatching, from my experience. most likely due to the pigmentation in the baby snail's shells showing through the ever thinning egg case, IMO.
