What makes the Magnum filters good?

the holder i seen reminded me of the one you can get for the vortex diatom filter same idea as that one and where the tubes connect on top of the magum 350 it was a hard plastic type tubing that hung in the tank like the hot magnums uses. and one of these holders and a magnum 350 filter sold on ebay about 2 weeks ago i was going to bid but i didnt it sold for close to 70.00 + shipping, i wish i would have saved the pics they showed of it set up. that was the only one i have ever seen. now i am going to hunt and dig and try and find this holder i am sure they are laying around in peoples basement or junk rooms i want one lol i think the ebay seller said it was made by maineland for the mag 350 im sure they didnt just make one holder there have to be some more around.

Marineland probubly still has some in their warehouse in a pile in some crate. Email them and ask. Maybe we can all sign a petition asking them to offer the bracket again as a new option. I bet they would make some money, I know Id buy one for say $10-$15. It is probably just the kind of Idea they need someone to bring up.

I also have one of those old walmart hot magnums sold under the regent name that another poster has. exactly the same as the hot magnum except the filter body is a light see thru blue color. i wonder how old that is? i bought it off ebay last year for 11.00 no one else bid on it i guess they thought it wasnt any good but it was new and works fine. walmart and marineland have had a long relationship i wonder when walmart will start selling marineland canisters under the regent brand name.........maybe i need to email that suggestion to walmart headquarters im sure they would sell alot of them.

Well, it has to be atleast 5+ years old, since I havent seen them in any local walmart since then. But I doubt we'll ever see a Regent C-Series, in my area they are removing the fish tanks, and dont sell anything bigger than the old Penguin 300s (pre bio-wheel) units. But you can still get the small Plastic 5/6 gallon Marineland tanks and bio-wheel cartridges for less than half of what a Petsmart or even some online retailers charge.

He has a HOT 250. Thats getting compared to high dolla floor cans. lol

LOL, it did take about 4 pages to even get a couple of views about my original concerns with the design. The rest of this thread has been quite the trip. From 'my Magnum kicks your canister' to 'dude, where did my 350 bracket go!' :p:

Anyway I sent the following email to Marineland corporate:

Dear sir/ma'am quite a few people who use the Magnum 350 have been discussing the wish for return of the tank bracket as an optional item. As baby boomers get older an HOB canister bigger then the Hot mag is a wished for item. The Mag 350 fits the bill with its once included plastic HOB hanger. I believe since Marineland retains the plans to manufacture the original Mag 350 HOB hanger, it would be a great opportunity for someone to present the idea at the next staff meeting as an easy to manufacture already developed part that may have new demand. Certainly every Mag 350 owner would be interested in having one at reasonable cost which would completely transform the floor product into a easy to access removable large capacity canister. Please advise as I represent many who have discussed great interest in this once offered option.
Very Respectfully,
George G. CWO4 USCG Ret

:) It happens once in a while. Its either HOB's, which AC usually gets the majority, thumbs up. Or your 250 even, but it tends to be forgotten sense HOB usually brings the Open top type filter to mind.
Or canisters... well, you see how that one goes. :)

And, well, all ya gotta do is mention "Magnum". And people start chanting Fluval... Eheim...Fluval... Eheim.... Doesn't matter if its the badest lil HOB that could. :P

So just what do you have in this tank?
Fish?
Plants and accessories?
Critters?

All of that stuff can make a difference on how a filter can/could be run.

Well if we are talking about my tank. There isn't much of anything going on right at the moment. I am taking my sweet time getting this tank up and running. :p:

Eventually though it will have two dwarf gouramis, some rasboras, some rainbows, some corys, and some ottos. I will eventually have some low light plants in there and currently it does have some slate (to create two unique levels), and two pieces of decor. Really it is fairly open, so with the Rena HOB sucking up the open side of the tank and the Magnum HOT sucking up by the plants it should be good. But there is always the draw of what I could do with a canister. :joke:
