My friend wanted saltwater, wow i dont even know where to begin, but he just randomly went out and bought a 30 gallon tank, a torch coral with 6 heads (80 bucks) a clown and a skunk shrimp... he put it all in the tank on the same day no cycle and no RO water..

i went over there to check it out and he doesnt even have sand.. this kid WILL not be convinced that he needs anything. i tested the water.. the alk over 15 and the nitrate obviously isnt stable yet.. he has one live rock cured and one that isnt. and a 24 watt crap light

there is so much to say but it makes me kinda upset he did all this.

I convinced him to let me take his ENORMOUS torch coral until his tank is okay, i also gave him my bio cube hood light for the moment.

id love your guys takes on this

my advise so far was to get sand, a better light, cure the rock, use RO, and get rid of the fish until he gets his water right.. and he has a normal filter and no sump..

i think hes doomed?!

ON A LIGHTER NOTE
i got a surprise for everyone soon with my tank. no updates until then

Since he is so hard-headed, let him learn the hard way. It's his own wallet that will take a beating. Unfortunately, so will his tank inhabitants.

Bummer the fish are going to suffer. I would pimp slap em in the least

Naw.. it is far less stressful on you to just let him fail on his own. You can feel good yourself knowing you at least tried to help.. but if the help isn't wanted, just let it be and don't worry about it. Ya, it sucks for the fish.. but some people have to learn the hard way sometimes. All the other things you mentioned will surely doom his current livestock, but sounds like he needs to see this himself before he believes it.

Sand isn't really a requirement.. just something most people like to have. Unless your going with a Deep Sand Bed then it really doesn't help much with the tank.

annnd now he has 4 blue fish i dk the name of (not chromis) a PSYCHADELIC manderin a fire goby and another peppermint shrimp.. hahahaha what the ****

Yes haha he does i think his mom is buyin alot of it, i told him to slowdown on adding fish atleast and he is, and he isnt putting anymore coral in until i give him the okay!

I agree with what they said, his hard-headedness will be his teacher..when he's learned his lesson,if you feel he deserves it, offer advice.

The first thing he needs is research,on everything aquaria related apparently.

Poor, poor guy my foot! He is obviously very immature and spoiled.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink! If he won't listen it is out of your hands. Sort of reminds me of certain members here too.
