After crying about ranchu+L021 combos for hours and deciding it just wasn't worth the risk, I have decided on using some nice loaches (my 3rd favorite fish) to add to the tank. I did a bit of research, and these are the ones that I think would be nice to have, a variety if possible: Dojo Loaches, Coolie loaches, Yoyo loaches, pakistani loashes and garra.

Any reccomendations are welcome,
L021.

I got a dojo loach for my 55 gal goldfish tank. I got good info that they would be good and would also do OK alone as I didn't have much in the way of bio-room. He arrived as a small baby and now that he has about doubled in size, he is all over the tank, doin cute stuff like burrowing in the sand with just his little head sticking out. He's great... I recommend them!

Some more info:
My tap pH is 7.5
I currently have one pleco, one angel and a group of BHTs (3).
I do water changes every other week 25%, but I can do weekly 20%s.

Yeah, dojo loaches are pretty much the best tankmates for goldfish. Garras can tolerate cooler waters and may work just fine as well.

Sorry for any misunderstanding, I' just going for a loach+pleco tank. Ranchus shall wait till my next tank

what about dario loaches

Striatas, kubotai or histrionicas would work too, 6 or 7 of 1 species. Or a bunch of sidthimunkis, kuhlis or other smaller loaches. If you've never looked here http://www.loaches.com/ you should, lots of loaches!

Dojos need cooler water, kuhlis less current than botias & garra. I have a 55g with 4 panda garras & 7 young histrionicas, it's a fun, active tank, my newest. Or you could do several species of pangios (kuhlis).

Ok, I have a nice list, but I do need one last bit of info;
What loaches should I avoid that are commonly seen at petstores? I have a few leopard danios in there that I used to cycle the tank.

"Tiger loaches" are aggressive (not to be confused with zebras) I'd stay away from skunks & red tailed & red finned loaches. If you don't know what species it is WAIT to get any until you're sure, really sure. Hillstream loaches have special needs too but aren't aggressive...for the most part.

Get kuhlis! Kuhlis, kuhlis, kuhlis! They have the cutest little faces.

Here are some pics of my guys.
