Themed Tanks

I put a background in. Hard to see in the new pics. I am putting in a final decor touch some time sunday night and will have the pics by monday. The water is starting to clear up from the change :)

I was looking at some guppies. I went with sunburst plateys, and a few more mickey mouse plateys, and I transferred my glo-fish into the 30g tank. Hopefully when I put in the glass "Ice Igloo" tomorrow (curing now) it will really set things off.

I wanted to make a haunted theme tank with black sand, black wallpaper, a skull/sunken pirate ship centerpiece and stocked with glass catfish and a black ghost knife.

You probably wont be able to see the black ghost at all tho with the black substrate+background.

Yes! I am starting to have fun with the themes.

I work for a company that makes colored vinyl. We run 2500 yard bulk rolls through a machine to cut them down to a certain size. When we get a roll we often need to roll off the first layer cause of defects of being stored in a warehouse. That is how I got the light blue background from the 20g tank....

... It would have just taken up some room in a land-fill. I'm not an eco-freak but I figured if I was running a cool color vinyl I would rather try to use a bit of the scrap than throw it away. I still have about 5 yards of the blue and the white.

I saw a "Red" theme tank at a lfs. They had Red Gravel, Orange Plants (fake, obviously), Black Background. Stocked with Platies, Honey Dwarf Gouramis, Swordtails, and Oto Cats. It looked pretty good.

I have the igloo in. I am I am in the middle of treating the water so hope to have a decent pic of the 30g tank soon.

The 30g I was was supposed to get is a 20g, and it is going to be some work. I just painted the stand I got with it.

These are ideas I like a lot. For my Blue Crayfish I made this tank, reminds me of ice/blue. I messed up and should've used the blue side of the background though, have to change that.
Do you see these leaves in the 2nd picture? I got some 5' strings of them for $1 a piece at the Dollar Store. They're just silk and plastic, no metal wires. That would be perfect to string around in your 'Fire Tank'. I've got to run up there in the next day or 2, I'll get you some if you want me to. No problem at all, I don't even care about the few dollars.

Ksane, WOW that looks cool !!

JP your getting close, maybye a fire red plant , somthing the fish move to much to see' all the red in the tank . I Love your little igloo , did you make it ?

Ksane, awesome tank!

Addicted - yes I made the igloo myself, posted a simple how-to in the DIY forum.... I am thinking of turning it into a PDF.

The new tank I got was 20g instead of 30g. If it was 30g was going to go with Cichild, but I think a 20g tank would be too small for that type of fish.

Almost thinking of an "Urban Decay" theme. The PVC pipe section I have might look good covered in sand.... but keeping this tank in my bedroom I am also thinking of a peaceful color scheme.
