I think it would be too easy for a mafia player to just fake being a cop. They may get called out for it by the real cop, but we didn't even know if there was one left which meant the detective would possibly have to come out. All the mafia would need is a little blind faith and they possibly win tonight.

Having the detective come out and a cop to verify the info at least gives us confirmation that RB is not lying. It would be risky for a mafia ploy as it would put two mafia in the hotseat. Sure, they could easily persuade the town and get us to lynch an innocent but unless there was a mafia player already on the chopping block, I see no reason for any mafia to come out as the det/cop at this point. They could easily just get an innocent lynched tonight without coming out.

I trust Rb and Jm now.
