My tank has ICH!

It's a 55g african cichlid tank, and the pleco has it the worst. There are about 7 small africans (2-3 inches) and the pleco is about 2.5 inches.

The tank has only been stocked for about 4 weeks. I've dosed the tank with Ick-Clear by Jungle, because I've heard good things about it and it clears it rather quickly.

We dosed it yesterday and the tank turned blue, but today it's hardly blue at all. Is it supposed to work that way? Because I was thinking it was supposed to stay blue. We did take the filters out because they have carbon in them, and it says to remove all carbon from the filter.

Any thoughts?

I realize that increasing the temp and adding salt could work, but I don't have aquarium salt and I heard that the Ick Clear works much faster.
 
I think I answered my own question, it says on the directions to dose every 24 hours lol. Completely missed that part.

Do y'all have any experience with this product?

Ick-clear works great IME. you might have to use a few doses depending on how bad your tank is. both times that i had to dose for ich i caught it very early on and was able to stop it within a day or two.

There is a decent amount of white spots on the pleco. The africans don't have many spots at all (some have none), but they are rubbing against the objects in the tank which is an obvious sign.

The tank is now a little cloudy but I guess that's expected with the filters removed.
 
raise the temp .5 degrees and hour to about 84 or so and keep dosing it you should be fine

Rid-Ich+ is a formalin/malachite green mixture and when used as directed produces a concentration of 15 mg/L of formalin and 0.05 mg/L of malachite green. Rid-Ich+ can be used with the so-called “scaleless” fishes, but should not be used on mormyrids (elephantnoses).[/FONT]

This is why it is important to observe and be aware of the cycle of appearance and disappearance of the spots on the fishes. How do I know how much salt to use? And, should I add that in addition to the already added Ick Clear?

On the box it says no increase in temperature necessary. Should I still go through with it anyway?
