Where to get cheap water testing supplies?

I'm unbelievably broke but need to get some water test kits, especially calcium, kh, and nitrate.

Does anyone know of a cheap place to buy them? Yes, by the way, I've looked on Ebay and Craigslist.
 
I can find the API master kit for about $22 when I look around. But the key is to buy good lab test tubes with increment lines of .25 mils. Then you can just divide those wasteful 5mil test by 4 to 5 and save a ton of money. All of my test are now conducted with either 1ml or 1.25 ml of test water using only 1 or 2 drops of test liquid achieving the exact same results. This effectively reduces the cost of an API master test kit to about $6.

I applaud your McGuiverisms!

I do the same, but the cheapest I can get is the API kit, here is $35.00 USD plus 8.5% sales tax.

If someone knows a cheaper way to do it, other than the one which you described in detail, I would sure like to hear it!

Drsfosterandsmith are NEVER the cheapest, ESPECIALLY after s&h. What was the point of linking them??

And the reduction of the tests is a good idea but the initial purchase is my problem.

The point is that you have to shop around becasue sometimes Dr F&S are the cheapest and sometimes Big Al's. As far as shipping and handling it is s moot point if you plan ahead and combine them with other purchases you need so that shipping and handling is usually free. I don't shop on line often and almost never for any one thing but always try and combine my purchases to save on shipping or get free shipping. This same way of thinking runs along the same line as reducing samples. :grinyes:
