Best cichlid for 20 gal long?

I'm thinking GBR but open to other suggestions. I'm trying to establish my 20long and thinking about how to stock it once it's cycled. Any other dwarf species that are super colorful or cool patterns?

Rams are great as well as different species of apistogramma! I have a pair of A. borellii and they are awesome!

that is an example of a shelly tank...

a shelly is a type of tanganyakin cichlid.. and there is many many types of shellies

they are very small, and in habit shells within the tank

you could try some dwarf checkerboard cichlids also.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Those shellies are pretty cool. I think I'm leaning towards something a little more vibrant though. Ahh, I dunno, decision decisions.

I'm off to a LFS that say they specialize in cichlids. So we'll see what happens. Thanks again everyone.

Dont trust the LFS! They are in it to sell fish, not to give you advice that keeps you from buying!

I think that statement is a misrepresentation. Many fish stores offer great advice and care about their animals more than making a sale. I know there is always some bad ones, but talk to the people at the stores to get a feel and choose a good one.
