Very nice! You are actually going to put the females in the tank with him? I don't think that would be a good idea. A male betta can't be kept with other Bettas, either male or female. You can have a few females in a heavily planted tank though.
Hey reframer, no the female aren't going in the same tank. Except when breeding of course. When I said they were going with him I meant I'm getting a trio. But as for keeping males with females. I once had a 20 gallon tank with one male VT and 3 female VT's in it. It was heavily planted so it did work fine. By heavily planted I mean that you almost couldn't see the fish because of all the plants. But anyways, it did work out fine until I decided to shut it down. That does proves that you can keep males and females together, but only under the right conditions.
