Dwarf sag doing poorly

I've had dwarf sag in my tank for about ten months and it did really well...until about two weeks ago. The leaves are turning clear and disintegrating and the root systems look terrible and some of them are actually floating out of substrate which NEVER happened in the prior months.

The only thing that changed is I dosed my tank with H2O2 a couple months ago thanks to an algae outbreak.

Tank specs:
1.8wpg
Dose Flourish & occasionally Excel
Fluorite substrate

What gives? :huh:
 
Last test they were at 10ppm but that was before this started happening.

I will test again tonight before I do a WC.
 
i should have elaborated with a bit more information, but i posted in a rush.
i have noticed that high nitrates have negatively affected the leaves on my dwarf sag before and caused a similar situation.

in a separate incident i have noticed that a larger plant casting a shadow over my dwarf sag has caused them to die/rot/wither away. they did not appear to be shaded because they still received light, but just not as much. Once i removed the offending shadow-plant they bounced right back within a week.

Interesting. I've never had anything close to high nitrates in my tank because of the plant stock. The highest I've seen was 20ppm.

You have me thinking now...I dosed the H2O2 which pretty much killed off my anacharis which could very possibly have been soaking up all the nitrates...which might explain why my sag is doing so poorly.

I'll post up the results of my water test later tonight.
 
Just tested the water. 0's across the board (nitrates, nitrites and ammonia). As expected due to the fact its medium-heavily planted.

sounds like it's time to up your dosing or dose individuals.

Anacharis has been long enough that I would think nitrates would be elevated by now.

How do I dose nitrate?
 
You can either purchase KNO3 from an aquarium fertilizer site or it can even be bought at hardware stores as stump remover, but make sure the stump remover is pure Potassium Nitrate.
